Purcell's Cove is a tiny community at the mouth of Halifax's lovely Northwest Arm.  Much of the stone that built a city came from the quarries at Purcell's Cove and the people born and raised in "Cove" have for years been known for their industriousness and fortitude.  In the 40's a small community church was built as an outreach of a larger parish.  After many years of honor in the community hosting congregations, weddings and funerals, St. Cecilia's was deconsecrated in 1976 and left vacant for much of the next 3 decades.

Inspired by the story of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of Music and the unique opportunity to do "something" with a church, it was bought in 2005 by musician Brett Ryan with grand plans for its restoration.

Beginning with an almost total rebuild of the interior and façade, the little church was lovingly resurrected.  New oak paneling, new stained glass windows and a spectacular ceiling are just a few of the touches that allow us to imagine the ghosts of a sermon or forgotten prayers of previous congregations.  Enter award winning music producer and audio engineer Hayward Parrott and "something" begins to take shape.  A studio is born!

St. Cecilia Studios is a place to be inspired.  The beautiful setting and unique interior are sure to release your muse.  The atmosphere, truly unlike any other studio, is designed to spark creativity and, coupled with the technical capabilities of the studio and its staff we're sure you'll hear the whisper of St. Cecilia too.
